At last…

Hello World!

This blog post is especially for my MLS buds…

YEAH!!! I AM DONE!!!

The time has finally come to bid a fond farewell to this hectic first semester of library school…are we all in one piece???

It has certainly been a trip…one which I must say, I’m really quite happy to have taken…I hope that you all find yourselves feeling the same…

That being said, I am super glad to be lounging on my couch with no required reading and not one thing to research other than what tv show looks good for tonight!!

I know you can’t see me but I’m doing the dance…you know…the happy dance!

I did enjoy spending this semester with you guys but I am really looking forward to these next two weeks before the fun begins again!!!

Enjoy your well deserved respite…I know I will…

Ciao for now, fellow MLSers

Did you know???

Hello World!

It’s me again…

I don’t have much to say as life these days is really about work, school work and being a mom to a 16 year old…I know, the picture isn’t pretty!

Anyway, I received an email from my friend (Hi Mich!) that I thought was super interesting and appropriate for the techie driven library science professionals we’re aspiring to be!

Take a look…have fun all you future librarians…

Whew! So much to do so little time!

Hello World!

Since this blog is a school assignment, I am referring my next comments to my school comrades…

Well, like most of us, we’ve been working like mad to meet our deadlines…

Speaking for myself, I sense I’m getting too old for this!!!

But seriously, the work has been envigorating…I didn’t know I still had it in me to spend days reading and writing…it’s good to know the brain still has some juice left…good or bad I’m near done!

I have posted my annotated bibliography for our research paper…I may need to make some revisions but for now it’s done!!

Good luck to all!!

Earthquake hits Abruzzo, Italy

Hello World

Yesterday was a difficult day for thousands as an earthquake ravaged parts of the Abruzzo region of Italy.  I feel very blessed as I have many relatives who live in the area adjacent to L’Aquila, the area that was hardest hit.  Although my family had to run out of their homes in fear because of the moving earth, they are all safe!  My cousin called as soon as he could to let us know that they were all well and for the most part their communities survived, as well.  The little church on the mountain (I wish I had a photo!) was partially destroyed but again, when you see just what it did to that beautiful old town of L’Aquila, we feel so extrodinarily lucky!

On a lighter note…I have added some photos from my trip to Italy a few summers ago.  I love it there and I love the people…it is just so beautiful and so rich in culture and the food is kick butt, too!

A beginner’s blog…

Hello World!

This is my very first time blogging and it feels really weird!!!  It’s taken me a while to figure out just what to write about…do I speak about myself, do I speak about others, do I pick a topic and just run with it or do I just ramble on like I’m doing right now??

I imagine that with time it will develop itself or at least that’s what I’ll believe… for now anyway…

If you notice, the scene at the top that introduces me  is a photo of one of many interesting Manhattan stops for tourists or natives alike…although I have not visited in many years, I do have fond memories of my first taste of Ferrara’s and (more recently) Sambuca Cafe’s delectable treats!

For those of you who are fans of the ‘Big City’ I’m sure you would agree that Manhattan is just one of those places you simply cannot help falling in true like with (and for many, true love with!)…it grips you and then, just like that, you’re hooked!

As a young person living in the suburbs (and yes, we call Queens the suburbs!) we never ventured beyond our little neighborhood to ‘The’ City…it was just too far away!!!

It wasn’t until I reached adulthood and began working downtown that I realized I was so easily fooled!

Hey… ‘The’ City is NOT too far!!! It’s really only a stone’s throw away and it’s AWESOME!!

Today, I look forward to an opportunity that brings me to one of the most interesting and alive places in the world…how lucky are we, who are only a stone’s throw away from this marvelous, pulsating metropolis, to be able to partake whenever we want of whatever we want, from fine dining to fun fare, from cultural enrichment to just a sit in the park…really, how lucky are we!

Whew!!!…I think I’m done…so much for my very first time…that was really interesting and truth be told, I’m glad it’s over!

I will say ciao, ciao for now but I understand that this share-all exercise will be going on for a while so, do not fear, you’ll soon be hearing from me again!!!

PS…I’ve added this video because it’s ‘cool in your code nyc!’
